home -- get involved
about canstruction
Working in tandem with the American
Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Society for Design Administration (SDA), Canstruction
is making a significant contribution to the fight against hunger.
Canstruction
combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a
unique way to help feed hungry people. Competing teams of design
professionals from architecture and engineering, as well as groups from
schools and colleges, showcase their talents by designing giant
sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the
exhibitions all of the food used in the structures is donated to HACAP
food reservoir for distribution to local food pantries, crisis centers,
and shelters.
how to get involved
There are three ways to get
involved with Canstruction.
-
Enter a build team
made up of "builders" from your organization.
More about how to build, a list of allowed materials,
and an official entry form can be found on the
Entry & Rules page. You can find
out more about the event (dates, deadlines, etc.) on the
Event Info page.
-
Be a contributor to
Canstruction.
Want to help, but don't have the time or resources to enter a
build team?
Your donations help Canstruction with expenses such as
signage, advertising, security at the event and more.
Benefits of being a contributor include:
- Your company name/logo on all signage.
- Your company name/logo featured on advertising for the event.
- Your company name/logo on build team/committee t-shirts.
- Company name announced at the event.
- Complete list, with contact information, of all build team members
and their respective companies.
- On the day of the build, you may set up a table or hand out
marketing materials for your company.
- Name/logo on CorridorCanstruction.org website.
- Exposure from any other media covering the event (newspaper, TV,
radio).
Contact
the planning committee to become a contributor!
-
Mentor or support a build team.
Each of our talented build teams is seeking
benefactors to provide design assistance or assist in acquiring food for building structures.
We can help to connect you with a design firm or school/university
group who is looking for support. Email any of the committee
members listed on the contact page and
we'll get you linked up with a team in need.
